We’ve recently been watching a lot of old episodes of the Great British Bake Off, as our grandson has really got into it. We managed to find whole series being streamed on some cookery channel, so have recorded them. Every evening, we sit down to watch the latest creations unfold and to see if we can guess correctly who will be crowned the star baker for that particular week and who will be heading home. It’s good to see Mary Berry back in her rightful place and to enjoy the humour of Mel & Sue, particularly as they take the ‘mickey’ out of Paul Hollywood!
“So what does this have to do with Time2 and your current journey?” I hear you cry. Have you noticed how, even though the bakers have practiced their bakes on numerous occasions and know their recipes, baking times and temperatures inside out, but they can be easily knocked off their stride by a simple passing comment from Paul, or even by him just raising an eyebrow after the contestant has answered a question. Once he’s planted that little seed of doubt into their mind, they tend to start questioning everything that they know to be true.
I’m in no way comparing Paul to a snake, but what he manages to do most shows, is exactly what the serpent did with Eve in the garden. “Did God really say not to eat the fruit of that tree?” Or in our situation, where on the surface we don’t appear to be any closer to having a property to operate from than we were 2+ years ago when we left ngm “Did God really call you and give you the Time2 vision?”
We are encouraged that we’re not the first people to receive a calling who have had to wait. It’s often easy to read the stories of people waiting in the Bible and to skip over the long waits that they endured and with the benefit of hindsight and knowing how the story ends, it’s easy to wonder why they allow doubts to develop in their minds and why they don’t always follow the calling they had received. It’s not always easy, but we’re more certain than ever that God will fulfill all that He has promised, after all He’s never broken a promise yet!
