I was recently reading the story in Ezekiel 37 about the dry bones (if you're not familiar with the story, do take 5 minutes to read the passage) the situation seemed impossible. The first thing that jumped out of the story was at the beginning, when he sees the valley of dry bones. What does God say to him? He just asks Ezekiel a simple question, 'Son of man, can these bones live?' and Ezekiel doesn't give the obvious answer of no, how can these long dead bones live again, instead he responds with 'Master God, only you know that.'
As I write this, I am reminded that it's not a case of what we can see around us (for us the lack of finances or a property for Time2, but for you it maybe the health issues you are facing, or the family problems, or the big question of what am I going to do career wise etc.). The fact that we're still awaiting God's provision, means to most people that the Time2 vision that we were given appears to have no more life in it than the valley of dry bones that were in front of Ezekiel had in them. So rather than panicking about what we don't have, it is more about a question of 'can you see what it can become?' God has a plan and a purpose! God is able to transform every situation we face (whether a huge mountain or a tiny worm cast), we need to look at the situations before us with eyes of faith.we need to follow Ezekiel's example, survey the scene before us and listen to God, not the nagging doubts that keep reappearing! We need to remember that God caused Ezekiel to prophesy in small chunks which were faith building, rather than getting him to prophesy the final picture of a living, breathing army.
For us in particular, but also for many of you reading this, we often need to have things broken down into manageable faith goals, it's the only way we can get our head around it. When we are faced with situations and circumstances that seem impossible, remember what Ezekiel said and did. Take a moment to see it with faith, look at it from God's perspective and speak words of truth and life into the situation. SEE IT, SPEAK IT, LIVE IT!
We've just been watching a preach online about faith. One of the points was based around the story of the death of Lazarus (John 11), where Jesus delays going to visit Lazarus when he is sick. Jesus turns up a few days after Lazarus has died and is met by Lazarus' sister Martha. If we pick up the story in verse 21, we read “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died." Based on her knowledge and experience of Jesus, she had faith that Jesus would have been able to heal her brother, but her faith goes beyond that! Verse 22 goes on to say "But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” She not only had faith that Jesus was capable of healing individuals, she had a faith that Jesus could do the impossible and bring her brother, who by this time had been dead for 4 days, back to life! She was able to see beyond what was before her and was rewarded, as Ezekiel was, with seeing obviously dead bodies, living and breathing again.
Yet more examples of God taking an impossible situation and making it possible. We want to have the faith to see beyond the circumstances, to what God has promised for us as a couple and for Time2 and to be able testify to everyone of God's faithfulness.
