At the present time, as we are all in varying degrees of isolation and when social distancing is the new norm, it's easy to look back to the good old days prior to the lockdown and to talk of when things eventually return back to normal. Other people talk about the fact that we will never return to the old normal, but that we'll settle into a new normal.
We had a rather long, but extremely fascinating FaceTime conversation last week with a couple of friends, discussing this subject and exploring what a new normal would look like for the church. I then came across this short extract from a sermon that an American pastor, Steve Furtick, preached on Sunday (click link to watch). I watched this clip and then had to find the full message on YouTube, the full message is about an hour long, but I would highly recommend that you set aside an hour to watch it, grab a coffee and click here.
Watching this message, I was reminded of what I'd written back in November (So You Want To Go Back To Egypt) about how we always look back to the good old days (even though we wanted to get out of there at the time. I was also reminded of the blog I wrote in March (Jesus Calms The Storm) about how we are often gripped by fear.
I am looking forward to watching his next message about Normal next week.
