Room At The Inn?

Christmas Day is rapidly approaching, I can’t believe how many empty pockets we have on our advent calendar, where has all that chocolate gone?

Reflecting on the Christmas story, I was drawn to one of the minor characters, the inn keeper, who couldn’t find room for the family within the house and confined them to the stable round the back. I wonder if during the following 30+ years he ever realised that the baby born in the stable was the same man who was travelling around the region teaching and performing miracles? Did he ever regret not making room for the family?

It’s so easy to get carried away with buying all the right gifts and all those must have Christmas themed foods, that we can forget Jesus and consign him to the stable, rather than inviting him to be front and centre in our celebrations. Am I (or are you) going to make room for him this year?
