I was recently reading the story of Jesus calming the storm (see Matthew 8:23-27) and what really struck me was that though Jesus is in the boat with the disciples, he's just asleep in the boat. The fact that the wind is howling and the waves are breaking over the boat, so that everything and everyone is soaked, Jesus manages to just sleeps through it! But it only takes for the disciples to cry out to him in fear and he's immediately awake and dealing with the issue!
What really struck me about this story, that I believe is for us all at this time of the great corona virus health storm, apart from the obvious action that we should all be crying out to God to intervene for the sake of the world (wasn't it wonderful to see and hear of so many people responding to the Archbishop of Canterbury's call for people to pray and light a candle last night). Jesus was just waiting for them to recognise their need of his intervention. It was, that there is power released when we speak!
As you know we are able to speak good or bad into our own lives and the lives of others. But just as importantly, is that when we don't speak out, we can leave others feeling isolated and alone, which isn't good for anyone's mental health. After all, we are all designed to be sociable people, whether we recognise it or not, we are designed for relationship with God. So pick up the phone (or use the myriad of social media options available to video call) and call someone who you know would benefit from hearing someone's voice, I am sure that there are so many people in your contacts list who would benefit. Your actions will hopefully encourage them to contact others they know as well.
Let's use this time of isolation as an opportunity to make a difference, reach out and encourage someone today. Don't wait for someone to contact you, it's Time2 act.
